Racing trimaran eXploder 25

Trimaran is designed by Ryszard Partycki according to Wojciech Kaliski`s concept. The design of the yacht provides three ways of its exploitation.

First - inshore sailing with 3-4 crew members on trapezes like on small catamaran type Nacra, Hobie Cat etc. Second - coastal races, long or short one with a crew of max. 3 persons. Max. time of sailing from port to port is 3-4 days. The route of these race may be of more than thousand miles. Third - a long-distance races, sea and ocean, one-leg with a two men crew for time of ca. two weeks like e.g. transatlantic trip in the region of trade-winds.

The trimaran has a wing, canted mast made of carbon fibre, the centerboard, two rudder blades and two foils placed on the outrigger hulls. Genacker and code 0 are set from the bowsprit. Electric power is supplied by solar pannels.

The two men trimaran crew is in position to re-set the yacht after a capsize on their own. It is possible thanks to an innovative concept based on a hydraulic system of folding of the hulls. The system is also very usefull during a transport of the yacht - it may be folded and transported on a trailer pulled by a car.

Description of boat re-setting after a capsize

The hulls have been divided into several watertight compartments.
At the stern emergency hutchway has been mounted. An accomodation for the crew is rather poor: one solid stern bunk, two sittings under deck, navigation desk and a small galley are located in the main hull. In the outrigger hulls and in the bow part of main the hull store compartment are placed.

The hulls have walls made of carbon sandwich with nomex core and PVC foam. Stringers, cross sections and bulkheads have been used. Crossbeams, also made of carbon fibre, consist of middle parts in-laminated into main hull and outer parts also in-laminated into the outrigger hulls. The two separate parts of the crossbeams are joined to each other hingedly by use of quick-release metal pins what enables (after releasing of one pin from each join) a hydraulic folding of the crossbeams and thus - re-setting of the capsized yacht or prepare for transportation.
